How to Place a Custom Jewelry Design Order
Custom jewelry design orders are very special. If the order is for a gift, it’ll give a whole new meaning to, “it’s the thought that counts.” If the order is for yourself, you’ll get to show off a unique piece that is entirely you.
Whatever the reason for your order, the range of complexity in a custom design can vary. I’ve done all sorts of customized requests, from changing the length on one of the necklaces or set of earrings in my line to creating a whole new one-of-a-kind piece.
Before getting started on a custom order, I have only two requests:
1. You need to like my style. This will save us both a world of trouble if you’re looking for something outside what I normally do.
For example, if you’re looking for something very traditional, I am not your girl! My style of jewelry design is modern and fluid with an emphasis on embracing individuality (which is why a custom request is such a wonderful order for me to fulfill).
2. No replication requests, please. One of the best things about LoriMeg designs is that all of my work is original. I will not copy another artist's work—it is strictly against my principles.
So, now that you know the breakdown, let’s run through a few of the types of custom designs I can help you create.
Semi-Custom Jewelry Redesigns
My handmade jewelry is made from my personal inspirations and style, but I can easily tailor an existing design to better suit your tastes.
If you see a piece in my line that you love, let me know if you want it shorter, longer, bigger, smaller, all silver, all gold, a combination of gold and silver, a different shaped frame, a different stone, etc. I’m more than happy to accommodate your request.
To place a semi-custom order: Drop me line using my contact page. You’ll need to let me know the piece you’re interested in and the modifications you’d like done. From there, I’ll send you a quote and, if everything looks good to go, I’ll need a 50 percent deposit to get started. After the deposit is received, you should have your semi-custom piece in about 10 days.
Here are a few examples of semi-custom redesigns:
Fully Custom Jewelry Design
Sometimes the occasion calls for a custom piece fully designed from the ground up. Do you…
- Have a unique stone from your travels that you’d like to feature in a necklace?
- Have a special event that needs a certain type of bracelet to go with your new dress?
- Need a custom piece for an upcoming anniversary or birthday?
- Want a necklace that matches the LoriMeg Designs earrings you bought?
I am more than happy to work on these fully custom orders and create the perfect piece you have in mind.
To place a fully custom order: Once you’ve decided to move forward with a fully custom piece, contact me right away to get started. Since these designs are so subjective, the sooner we start talking through your ideas, the better. Once we’ve settled on a design direction, I’ll let you know the next steps to complete the order.
Inspired Custom Jewelry Design
Don't know what you want, but want some drawings to inspire you? I can do that, too!
For a newly inspired design, we’ll need to discuss the style you’re going for, the materials you want to use, and the price range you feel comfortable with.
I will then send you a few sketches along with prices for each design. Together, we can go back and forth to tweak the designs to your tastes.
To place an inspired custom order: Again, once you’ve decided to move forward with this custom option, let’s start talking through what you have in mind. From there, I’ll work on some design sketches for you. Please note that there will be a design fee for any more than three sketches.*
Once you’ve approved a sketch, I’ll need a 50 percent non-refundable deposit before I can start working on the piece.
Since these inspired designs are completely new, your piece may take 1-4 weeks to be completed. This timeframe depends on the complexity of the design, but I adhere to my deadlines and will do everything I can to make sure you get your piece in the timeframe you desire.
I am so excited to start working on your custom jewelry, and can’t wait to bring your visions to life—let’s get started!
*This design fee will be credited toward the price of the piece if you decide to purchase the piece.
